On February 27, 2023, it was announced that an improved Spacer’s Choice Edition was being developed by Virtuos that would release on Maon all stores as a paid upgrade for all owners of the base game with all of its DLC and as a stand-alone game.

The original game was developed by Obsidian Entertainment, published by Private Division and released on Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store on October 25, 2019, followed by its release on GOG.com and Steam on October 23, 2020. It is a remastered release of the 2019 original The Outer Worlds and its expansion packs.
